Security Professionals Conference 2013: General Session Recordings Now Available
Last week’s Security Professionals Conference in St. Louis brought together more than 400 participants to explore the inevitable changes in cybersecurity and solutions to a multitude of security and privacy challenges.

2013 Security Awareness Video & Poster Contest Winners Announced
Nine winners of the 5th Annual Information Security Awareness Video and Poster Contest have been selected. The winning videos and posters are now available for colleges and universities to use in campus security awareness campaigns during National Cyber Security Awareness Month in October, student orientations, and throughout the year.
Major Higher Education Developments on State Authorization
The higher education community continues to make significant progress toward addressing the problems of distance education state authorization through the development of a state authorization reciprocity proposal. See more in the recent Commission on the Regulation of Postsecondary Distance Education report, Advancing Access through Regulatory Reform: Findings, Principles, and Recommendations for the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement.
Student Identity Verification, State Authorization Back on the Radar
The U.S. Department of Education announced its intent to modify the rule-making effort it originally proposed last year to address federal student aid fraud concerns. In addition to reviving the dormant regulatory process on financial aid fraud, the notice highlights ED's plan to expand the scope of the rule-making process to include previously overturned regulation on distance education state authorization. ED will hold three public hearings this May.
FCC Telecom Service Provider Accessibility Certification Rules
ACUTA—the higher education telecommunications administrators association—has posted an alert to colleges and universities about new accessibility record-keeping certification requirements from the FCC.
Google Accessibility Improvements
Google started informing its applications user groups this week about the accessibility improvements it has made to a range of its applications and software platforms.
